MSATT for VDR and Asterisk News
Using Asterisk to save money on mobile call charges
Save money !!
Switch to PAYG and get Asterisk to call you back at about 4 pence per minute. Once Asterisk has called you back, you can then dial internally or externally for nothing.
One of the great features within Asterisk is the fact that you can use different outgoing routes for your calls depending upon the number dialed.
Extension numbering plan
The users on my Asterisk exchange have extension numbers, however they often forget their extension and decide to use their DDI (Direct Dialing In) numbers. The problem is the exchange then uses my voip provider to provide the connection between the two extensions - which does incur a call charge :( So what is the solution?PAP2 Generic Dial Plan![]() As many of us have discovered how good the PAP2 is, the dial plan can still appear a bit confusing.
Following is my UK dial plan, which allows calls to local numbers without std code, dial 01/02 and 03 numbers, dial freefone numbers, international, and have some speed dials. |
Asterisk controlling VDR
I feed my VDR picture throughout the house via a modulator, but wanted to be able to alter the channels while in other rooms.
The PABX gives a beep and I then use the keys on the phone to navigate. By pressing 0 on the phone puts me into number mode and after 2 seconds the system reverts back to navigation mode.
